From Nagoya

Take the “Shinano” limited express bound for Nagano city. Change at Matsumoto for the Super Azusa limited express to Hakuba or Take the bus to Hakuba from Nagano city.

*note there is only 1 “Super Azusas” a day that heads all the way to Hakuba. It departs Matsumoto at 10:27am. Otherwise, you need to catch the local “Oito line” to Hakuba. it’s cheap but takes almost 2 hours and at some times another transfer is needed at Shinano-Omachi station.

The first “Shinano” leaves Nagoya station at 7:10am. After that they leave every hour on the hour from 8:00am till 19:00. It takes about 2 hours to Matsumoto.

**note there is an occasional service called the “Shinano-5th” which departs Nagoya station at 8:30am and goes directly to Hakuba. However, call first to see when it’s running as it’s quite irregular!! (Nagoya station: 05-2564-2422)

By Bus

Take the “Alpico” bus from Osaka to Matsumoto where you can transfer to train or another bus to Hakuba.

Or, Travex Tours has a direct bus service from Nagoya to Hakuba station and the Happo bus terminal. There are different classes of buses available starting from 4500yen (one-way) and 8000yen (return). This is quite good value and an easy way to go.

By Car

Take the Chuo expressway as far as the Okaya Junction then turn off onto the Nagano expressway. Follow this as far as Toyoshina before exiting the expressway. Follow the signs to Hakuba which will lead you along the Olympic road followed by national road 148 from Omachi to Hakuba.

Once in Hakuba

You need to be on the Olympic road in Hakuba. If coming from Nagano-city, just keep driving on the same road. If coming from Toyoshina you need to turn off route 148 onto the Olympic road when you see the Happo ski resort sign on the left. Follow the Olympic road all the way along past a 7-11 until you reach happo-iriguchi traffic light which has a Lawson next to it. Keep going straight until you see the Olympic village sign on the left. Turn up the hill to the left and drive up the curving road until you reach a crossroads. Turn left and drive past the Tokyu hotel entrance on your right. Turn right into the next road after this. The road will bend sharp left soon after. Morino Lodge is straight ahead!
