Sekkasai Lodge

For those of you looking for true Japanese style accommodation in a great location, Sekkasai Lodge is an excellent option. Run by long term Hakuba residents, the Morishita family, the atmosphere is warm and friendly.

The lodge itself is beautiful, with big wooden beams, a wood-burning stove, and tasteful Japanese décor. The bedrooms come in two styles, Japanese tatami mat or western bunk bed. The tatami rooms have comfortable futon sets to sleep on while the bunk rooms have triple bunk beds with the option of a 4th person on a futon set. None of the rooms have en suites, however, the shared bathrooms and toilets are very clean and rarely crowded.

Sekkasai is located just down the hill from Morino in Hakuba`s nicest area, Wadano. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the Happo gondola, a 4minute walk to the free-shuttle bus hub (buses to Happo, Goryu/47,Iwatake) and there are tons of restaurants bars and onsens nearby. The lodge itself sleeps about a max of about 17 people and is rarely crowded with an intimate feel.
